People can also be manually surveyed for OD by being interviewed.
When characterizing transportation in a region, the Origin-Destination (OD) matrix is crucial. The travel and transit between the various zones of a region are detailed in this matrix. Using traffic counts on transportation network links and other data, the OD matrix may be estimated. In a “target OD matrix,” this travel-related information is frequently included. The target OD matrix could be a previous (likely out-of-date) matrix or the findings of a sample survey. Different methods for determining an OD matrix have been devised and tested using these two data sources.
